TURN WATER OFF: Stop the water. If you can, use a local valve to stop the flow of water to the leak. If you can’t use a local valve, turn off the water supply to the house, open a valve in a sink or tub to remove pressure from water lines and call a plumber for repairs.

USE CAUTION: Watch your step, floors will be slippery. Also watch for trip & fall hazards and lookout for exposed electrical wires.

REMOVE WATER: Mop as much water as possible. To start the drying process in cool weather, open windows. In the colder months the outside air is much dryer so opening the windows allows the moisture in the house to equalize with the outside air. In hot weather, if safe, switch on A/C. Air Conditioners (and refrigerators) dehumidify the air.

PROP UP UPHOLSTERY: Remove all loose cushions and prop up upholstered furniture for more even drying. Get upholstered furniture above the level of water, if you can, to prevent further damage.

REMOVE AREA RUGS: Remove rugs and pick up any items that may be sitting on them.

Wet containers: Open any storage boxes or suitcases to encourage airflow and start drying. If possible let them dry in the sun.

PROTECT VALUABLES: Move paintings & other artwork to a safe, dry place.

DRY CLOTHING: Immediately dry all garments. Hang fur and leather goods to dry at room temperature.

PROTECT FURNITURE: Place aluminum foil or plastic under furniture legs on wet carpeting. Open, but don’t force, drawers & cabinet doors to dry out interiors.

Call PuroClean Disaster Response: We respond 24/7 and our trained technicians can get the drying started and avoid further damage.

DON’T USE A VACUUM CLEANER: DO NOT USE your regular household vacuum cleaner to remove water.

DON’T OPERATE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES: Do not use TVs, radios, computers, ceiling fans or any other electrical appliance while standing on wet carpets or floors, particularly concrete or tile floors.

DON’T TOUCH OUTLETS OR PLUGS: DO NOTPLUG OR UNPLUG any electrical appliances.

DON’T TURN UP HEAT: Keep interiors cool; heat without dehumidifiers will increase microbial growth.
